Celebrating 70 year of servicing our community in 2024.
ConnectGV was originally opened as the Goulburn Valley Centre for Intellectually Handicapped Children on March 25, 1954. In December of the same year, two blocks were purchased on Bowenhall Street in Shepparton.
The Official Opening of the GV Centre for Intellectually Handicapped Children was conducted by the Hon. Henry Bolte, Premier of Victoria at 2:30pm March 13, 1957.
Following growth over the years, both of the organisation, participants, housing, programs and formation of NDIS regulations, we are established as the leading disability support service provider in the area in 2024.
As we currently stand, it has taken the work of multitudes of people, committees, funding and families to attribute the success of the organisation.
In celebration of our 70th year, we are asking former participants, family members, workers, committee members and contributors to come forth with their stories and memories from their time with ConnectGV / The GV Centre.
We would absolutely love to hear from you! In collaboration with The History Project, we are working on a commemorative book for our 75th anniversary.
